The Fashion Design Production II programme is a sequence of courses designed to prepare the student to enter the workforce as a self-employed garment maker, a machinist, or garment industry occupations involving altering, pressing, and pattern making. Admission into the diploma programme requires that the student successfully complete the certificate program. The skills, knowledge, and attitudes to be acquired by students are found in the course syllabi. This programme is one year long. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Diploma in Fashion Design Production II is awarded upon successful completion of the programme.
Diploma Programme
- Fashion Design Production II
The Diploma in Fashion Design Production II provides students with in-depth training in apparel design and
production. Students acquire the soft and technical skills essential for providing customer satisfaction in a
creative and professional environment. They learn to develop patterns for ready-to-wear sampling as well as custom
design. They are introduced to sewing techniques for skirts, dresses and blouses; tailoring techniques for pants,
shirts and jackets; and accessory design for bags and hats. Students also acquire the sales and marketing skills
needed to establish their own brands.

The Certificate in Fashion Design Production I is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students to enter the
workforce as a self-employed garment maker or machinist or any garment industry occupation involving altering,

tailoring techniques for pants, shirts and jackets.
