Program Description:

The Information Technology Management program provides students with a well-rounded understanding of the core knowledge and training needed to pursue various career paths in the IT industry. The program also provides soft skills and technical skills for providing customer support in a networked office and business environment. The course content prepares students to install/troubleshoot information technology equipment, implement basic web applications and support its users. The program provides key project management and professionalism principles that are required by industry professionals. In addition, students are required to sit internationally recognized certification exams related to specific levels of classes in the program. Certifications include; CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+, Network +, Linux +, Project +, Security +, Microsoft Windows and OCA Java Programmer. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science – Information Technology Management degree, is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Programme Goals:

This program seeks to provide the specialized know-how and critical-thinking skills required for a career as an Information Technology associate level manager. The students are required to sit many of the industries international professional certifications including the CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Windows, HTML JavaScript etc. They will achieve experience in business, entrepreneurship, mathematics and communication in addition to the information technology management skills. The main topics will include:

The associates of Applied Science in Networking Engineering degree are an Information Technology degree with concentration in Networking. The program emphasizes the necessary knowledge for a Network professional to support and maintain specific networking environments. In addition, students are required to sit internationally recognized certification exams related to specific levels of classes in the program. Certifications may include; CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Network +, Certified Wireless Specialist (CWS) and Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA). The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science – Network Engineering degree, is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Programme Goals:

This program seeks to provide students with hands-on experience in network installation, maintenance, administration and support. Students will also complete the CompTIA Network+ and Cisco CCENT and CCNA industry certifications as a part of this program. This will allow the students to possess the skills required to setup and maintain business computer networks. Students will also study some basic information technology management concepts and intermediate mathematics and physics. These students will also receive training in business, project planning/management. The main courses will cover the following topics:

Certifications may include CompTIA IT Fundamentals and Linux+ along with the Oracle Certified Associate & Professional Programmer. The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute Associate of Applied Science – Software Engineering degree, is awarded upon successful completion of the program.

Programme Goals:

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Software Engineering (AE) seeks to provide training for students which will allow them to maintain and develop software applications and systems.
